New York City is anticipating a heavy snowfall. City officials are advertising to hire emergency snow shovelers. Unbelievably, applicants for this job must present 2 forms of identification.

The current mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, is a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Their party platform contains this plank:

UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE.

Extend full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens and establish statehood for Washington D.C.

DSA Platform 

It seems that Mamdani and his fellow Democratic Socialists support verifying identification when it comes to competition for unionized jobs, but not when it concerns voting eligibility.
